Tax related e-mail scams worrying US citizens

Tax related e-mail scams are continuously upsetting US citizens. The most recent e-mail message is from "Laura Stevens" of US "Internal Revenue Service public relations" asking to fill out a document that should include personal information and fax it back. The false message is part of a scam to steal people's identity.

The newest one asks for your name, date and place of birth, nationality, country of permanent residence, passport number, the name of your spouse and mother, permanent address, Social Security number, bank name and account number, and how often you come to the United States. A photocopy of your passport is also asked.
